Week 1 | Day 4 – WHEN TRUTH IS PLAIN – Romans 1:18–20
Right after proclaiming the Gospel’s power, Paul shows why we need it: God is holy, holy, holy, and His wrath is revealed against sin because people “suppress the truth.” Yet God hasn’t hidden Himself—He has made His reality plain. From creation’s order and beauty to the conscience within, His eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen, leaving humanity without excuse.
This doesn’t cancel grace; it clarifies our crisis and points to the cure. God judges sin and the sinner, but He does so in light of the cross—His relentless pursuit to redeem. Through general revelation (creation, providence, reason) God gets our attention; through special revelation (Jesus and Scripture) He offers salvation. The evidence is abundant; grace is extended—but never forced. We’re invited to respond in faith.
APPLICATION
1 - Stop Suppressing and Start Confessing.
Ask the Spirit to show any place you’re dodging what you know is true. Confess quickly. Holiness hates sin because sin destroys; agree with God and turn.
2 - Let Creation Lead You to Jesus
Use what you see (sky, order, beauty) as a springboard to Scripture and the Savior. This week, share one creation-based “doorway” to the gospel in a conversation.
3 - Choose Faith Daily
The evidence is enough, but faith receives it. Pray, “Lord, I trust Your Word over my feelings,” and take one concrete step of obedience that your flesh resists.
4 - Engage with Confidence—not Contempt
God’s truth is clear and His grace is near. Pray by name for a skeptic; invite them to explore Jesus with you (read a Gospel together). Remember: grace persuades; it doesn’t coerce.
PRAYER
Holy God, You have made Yourself plain in what You’ve made and in what You’ve said. Forgive me for the ways I’ve suppressed Your truth. Thank You for revealing Yourself in creation, and supremely in Jesus and the Scriptures. Lead me from confession to faith, from faith to obedience. Use me to point others from the wonder of creation to the Redeemer of the cross. Make me holy and hopeful as I trust You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
