Week 6 | Day 1 – FREEDOM—NOT CONDEMNATION – Romans 8:1-4

When we were condemned under the Law—unable to meet God’s holy standard because of our fallen flesh—God stepped in. In Christ our Passover sacrifice, Jesus fulfilled the righteous requirement the Law demanded, and in so doing, condemned sin in the flesh. The result? There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ. The STATE of our salvation has changed. No longer are we sinners—we are saints. No longer are we lost—we are now found! No longer are we condemned—but declared righteous. The result is now, until Jesus returns and we are fully transformed, our STANDING in Christ can match our state as we walk—not in the flesh—but in the Spirit who sets us free from the law of sin and death.

APPLICATION

1 - Rest in Your New Verdict

Preach to yourself—there is no condemnation in Christ. We can refuse the lies of shame and guilt by living in the truth of our justified state. As stated last week. Live FROM His victory—not FOR His victory!

2 - Relocate Your Identity

In Christ, we have been transferred from darkness to His kingdom—no longer orphaned but adopted, no longer sinners by identity but saints by grace. Let that identity shape your beliefs, values, and choices.

3 - Rely Solely on the Spirit’s Power

Grace is not a license to indulge the flesh—it is God’s leverage to overcome it. Begin today with a simple surrender asking the Holy Spirit to lead your mind, your members, and your moments.

4 - Replace Fleshly Patterns with Spirit-led Practices

Intimacy with God doesn’t occur by osmosis—but by personal spiritual effort and surrender to the Holy Spirit. Take the time to identify one tug and weakness of the flesh and exchange it for a Spirit-walk habit using Scripture, meditation, confession, reconciliatory action, and worship to replace it. Remember that freedom grows where obedience flows.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You for rescuing a wretch like me—dead in my trespasses, incapable of saving myself, and deserving of Your condemnation. Yet in Christ, when I was condemned by my sin, You condemned sin in the flesh of Your Son so that I would no longer be condemned. Thank you for such an amazing gift of freedom. Forgive me for those moments that I treat Your grace as permission to indulge the flesh. Instead, by Your Spirit, help me to turn Your grace into leverage and power to say “no” to sin and “yes” to righteousness. Today, help me walk in the life and liberty You purchased, enjoying intimacy with You and bearing fruit for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
