Week 5 | Day 5 – BE GRATEFUL YET ALERT – Romans 16:17-27

As Paul concludes his masterpiece letter to the Romans, he does so with both warmth and warning. His final words remind believers to live in gratitude and alertness—to cherish the fellowship of faithful friends while remaining cautious against spiritual deception. He celebrates the unity and beauty of the body of Christ but also warns against those who would distort truth for personal gain. Gratitude and vigilance are not opposites; they are companions. A thankful heart keeps us humble, while a watchful spirit keeps us wise. In a world filled with subtle spiritual schemes, believers must stay grounded in truth, discerning in spirit, and devoted to the God who gives victory through Christ.

APPLICATION

1 - Live Spiritually Alert

Don’t be naive to the schemes of the enemy or the pull of the flesh. Stay awake to the ways the world can distract or deceive, and let Scripture be your standard of discernment.

2 - Guard Grateful Relationships

Be thankful for those who walk faithfully beside you in the journey of faith. Invest in friendships that strengthen your soul and reflect Christ’s love. Surround yourself with people going in the same direction towards Jesus as you are striving to go.

3 - Stand Firm in Hope

Never lose confidence in the God who promises victory. He is with you, for you, and working through you—so live anchored in His unshakeable faithfulness.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for the Apostle Paul and for the timeless truth of the book of Romans. Thank You for loving me enough to teach, convict, and encourage me through its pages. Help me to live alert—to discern truth from deception—and to be grateful for those who strengthen my walk with You. May I not only live these truths but also share them, investing them into the lives of others so that they too may thrive in faith. Keep me steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in Your work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
