The Challenge

Ministry and business should be fruitful, enjoyable, and fulfilling—not needlessly frustrating. Yet too many churches, ministry organizations, and marketplace business a missing out on this blessing. Even more, these organization rarely struggle because their leaders don't care. More often, they struggle because:

  • The mission is understood differently by different people
  • Staff and volunteer roles have become unclear
  • Leaders are busy but not necessarily aligned
  • Communication is inconsistent
  • Important decisions are repeatedly delayed
  • The same few people carry too much responsibility
  • Vision hasn't been translated into an executable plan
  • Disciple-making is discussed but lacks a simple pathway
These challenges don't usually require another complicated program. They require honest evaluation, biblical wisdom, healthy leadership, and practical next steps.

This is where 5 Marks can help.

Why 5 Marks?

Guidance from Someone Who Understands the Weight of Leadership

Dr. Joey Rodgers is not approaching leadership from the outside looking in.
He has served in Christian ministry since 1985, including missionary service, educational ministry, pastoral leadership, and more than 26 years as a lead pastor. He currently leads a growing church in the south Atlanta suburb of Peachtree City with a membership of 2,800 people and a ministry staff of 26.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in religion, a master’s degree in religious education, and a doctorate in education with an emphasis in organizational management. He has also authored and self-published a number of books, devotional series, leadership tools, and ministry workbooks.

Joeys great passion is life to life engagement with leaders and influencers to help them to become more successful and encouraged. This is why at the heart of 5 Marks there is a conviction that people are rarely transformed by information alone.

Disciples are formed as one growing follower of Jesus intentionally invests truth, encouragement, example, and accountability into another person. And leaders are developed in much the same way—through personal investment, trusted relationships, practical experience, and purposeful coaching.

Our desire isn't solely to help organizations become more efficient. It's to help people become more faithful, fruitful, and effective in fulfilling the mission God has entrusted to them.

As such, the guidance offered through 5 Marks is therefore both academically grounded and practically tested in the real world of church leadership.
