LEADERSHIP

Leadership in its most basic form is influence – that is, using one’s influence to inspire and move a group of people together to accomplish something greater than themselves. Sometimes, this influence is personal. Sometimes it is directional. Often times it is operational. Yet, at all times it is necessary. Ultimately though, for this influence to be productive, there are three truths about leadership that can never be lost or misappropriated. First, leadership is an action and not a position. Just because a person has a title does not guarantee that they have influence or are using their influence well. Next, true leadership understands that the leader can give everything away but final responsibility. Effective leaders have learned to take the blame when the organization fails and to give credit where credit is due to the individuals on the team in whom they have invested and entrusted the mission. Finally, leadership begins and ends with a servant’s heart. As perfectly modeled by Jesus, true leadership requires putting others, and greater things, above one’s self.

With over 30 years of executive level leadership in ministry and  marketplace organizations, Dr. Rodgers brings a healthy wealth of knowledge to consult and coach organizational leaders.
